Patient A:
Our first patient was a 48 year old woman who was concerned with her smile due to a large crossbite and crooked teeth as seen below.
As you can see from the ‘before’ images of our patient she experienced a sloped structure of the teeth and protruding front teeth due to her crossbite. Her bottom teeth seemed to be slanted obscurely and some of her upper teeth were buckled behind her bottom teeth.
It was clear to us that this patient’s crossbite required treatment as it impeded the aesthetics of her smile as well as her jaw function when chewing and speaking. Her solution involved undergoing Invisalign clear aligner treatment with Newwave Orthodontics in Caloundra for 12 months. Invisalign treatment involves a series of 18 or more clear aligners which are fitted to your teeth and designed to induce gradual movement and improvement of crooked teeth. In this case they also worked to improve a crossbite, although Invisalign can also be used to improve overbites and underbites which can hinder the function of the jaw.
As you can see by the results, the Invisalign treatment totally corrected her crossbite and resulted in a substantial improvement in the protrusion of the two front teeth which is completely unnoticeable.
